Wiz - the steps have always worked regardless of the position of the salesman switch.
I think CA Traveler has it. They must have run the solar controller ground to the chassis and when the switch is open, nothing solar gets to the battery.
I'll chase down the wiring and maybe talk to the tech that installed it.
