Are those tires still on the ground, supporting the trailer?
Or is the trailer blocked up under the frame?
If the weight of the trailer is still on the tires, you are headed for big trouble. Re-attach the U-Bolts and call for help with the shocks.
If you can get both wheels of one side off the ground, you may find you can pry the axle down from its hanging position far enough to clear the longer ends of your new shocks.
Which makes me wonder... Are the new shocks themselves (not counting the studs) too long, or is only the studs that make them too long? If the "bodies" of the new shocks are the same length as the old originals, and only the studs are too long, how about cutting the ends off the studs?
