Are those tires still on the ground, supporting the trailer?
Or is the trailer blocked up under the frame?
If the weight of the trailer is still on the tires, you are headed for big trouble. Re-attach the U-Bolts and call for help with the shocks.
If you can get both wheels of one side off the ground, you may find you can pry the axle down from its hanging position far enough to clear the longer ends of your new shocks.
Which makes me wonder... Are the new shocks themselves (not counting the studs) too long, or is only the studs that make them too long? If the "bodies" of the new shocks are the same length as the old originals, and only the studs are too long, how about cutting the ends off the studs?
I'm in the process of blocking up right now. Right side is off (the one out of line) and that tire is off. About the lift the other side but I need to get 2 more jack stands as I thought I had 3 but only have 2. I thought about cutting the ends off the shock but the threads are pretty close to the end. They just arrived so I'm going to take them to a shock place to see if they can compress and bind them if they're not already. And I'll test for length. There is a wood shop at the resort here and I might be able to pay someone to cut shorten them. Will update later.
