You were NOT at a BP station, their company standards are GREEN for GASOLINE and BLACK for DIESEL.

I have two vehicles that burn gasoline, a Pontiac Vibe (regular), and a Ford Ranger (will not run on anything less than premium) and two diesel vehicles, a Class C motorhome on a Sprinter chassis, and a Ram 2500 with a Cummins. I have to pay a lot of attention to not getting the wrong fuel, especially at pumps with three different nozzles (gas, diesel, ethanol free... Racetrac does this at the new stations).
I get out and open the filler cap, swipe my card, and stand and point at the vehicle and say to myself "diesel", turn to the pump and pull the diesel nozzle and sniff and examine it and say "diesel" and only then do I dispense fuel.
