no power to dometic RM2652

I recently purchased a used travel trailer that had been in storage for several years. The refridgerator does not have any power to it, the outlet it is plugged into has power and I used a shop vac on it for a while with no problems. I am connected to a 30 amp outlet and have had no problems with anything else in trailer. I replaced a couple of 5 amp fuses, reset the main breaker, unplugged the trailer for a couple days and plugged it back in but nothing. The main breaker for the fridge has the microwave on it as well and it has power and works fine. The button on the front that switches it from elec to gas has no power so I cant try it on gas. Im new to this trailer so any suggestions would be appreciated but Im no mechanic so try to keep it simple for me. Thanks.

Keep it simple first! Check the GFI plug to be sure that it is not tripped. If it is reset it check the frig then go to breaker box to be sure nothing has tripped. You may have to shut the frig breaker then turn it back on.

True, but the simplest thing is to completely read his post and understand what he posted. He stated that the receptacle for the refer has power as he plugged a 120 appliance into it and it ran:S Doug
  • Thank you all for the great suggestions, I have printed everything out and will be going up to the camp to try them out. Hopefully I will be posting on here soon that all is working great.

  • You do not state year model. BUT, Dometic refers for the last 15 years have a overheat snap disc on the burner flue cover. The refer requires 12 volts to do anything as the controls are 12 volt. The 120 part just supplies 120 to the AC Heat Element. The AC element is controlled by the 12 volts. There will be 2 small wires going to a + and - plastic lug on the refer. The must be positive there. Then the 12 volt power goes to that overheat disc on the burner flue(2 red wires). IF that snap disc is bad, then you will not get power to the refer. You can jump those 2 red wires to see if the snap disc is bad as the refer will then power up the inside control buttons. If that is the case, then get a new Overheat disc from a RV service center. That disc is a SAFETY required part. Doug
  • Fridge needs 12v DC before anything will work.

Either from a good fully charged battery or via converter......fused circuit from DC dist. (5A) to DC +/- terminals on terminal block on backside of fridge.

If 12V DC voltage measured there.......

Then remove cover on power module and check DC fuse (3A).....that is for control circuit

The other fuse (5A) on module is for AC heater element.
  • There should be a fuse on the control board. BTW is it plugged in? It also needs good 12VDC power before anything else will happen.
