Mine is 4 yrs old and working fine and I use it constantly during the summer while parked in the yard. Would there be a point in joining the class action group if there is no problem as yet? I agree that there will be next to nothing to distribute after the lawyers get their share.
X-2
Mine is a 2012 model, runs six to seven months out of the year with out a problem.
MILLIONS of Norcolds operate flawlessly. People have had failures over the years. The RECALL was just a safety response by Norcold. But, once lawyers realized they could get millions suing they did. As always, very FEW of the real people that deserve some money/compensation will see any real money. The Lawyers ALWAYS take the bulk of the money, otherwise why would they bother? They NEVER care about the victims, they just want the money. Doug- monkey44Nomad IIDoesn't hurt to fill out the form. If your unit fails later, or the "owner share" kicks in, you at least receive something. Lack of filing claim means you continue to get nothing.
Per example: Without knowing it, my son was in a class action suit against a couple of college loan funding disputes. He never filed, but the colleges included every student with student loans outstanding. Three years later, he received a check for $15, another for $65, and other for $51 ... he was happy about it, although it didn't make him 'rich' ... not much money, but so what, it still counts.
Looks like the least anyone can get if you own it is the $68 or so ... all it takes is a claim form. - ken56ExplorerUpon closer scrutiny of this settlement I have found that even though you may not have experienced any problems as yet with this issue claimants will receive a 3 year extended warranty with your claim. You must submit a claim by 8/26/16 and can do so online easily by going to Norcoldclassaction.com. I just di it and it took all of 5 minutes, but have your serial number ready, its inside the door of the unit. I have not had any problems as yet with mine but I am certainly getting in on the warranty extension.
- 57_PanheadExplorerThe settlement is supposed to start paying within 90 days after the final hearing. It is to be paid in 4 installments over 3 years. Even if you have had no problems with your unit, if your unit is included in the class then you will receive something. How much depends on how many people file a claim. The web site for the class action has a rather extensive FAQ on the process.

If the plaintiff loses the case I believe the lawyers don't get any payment for their work. At any rate, the lawyers do provide a needed
service since a lot of defective products are put out by manufacturers that only care about bottom line profit.
