Norcold Recall Reset

We are on camping trip and Norcold refrig stopped working after Beacon wash. I found postings where this is a known issue and module can be reset with a strong magnet. I have tried multiple times with no luck. For now I have bypassed it to keep our food cold.
-Can anyone confirm that 634677 rev B can be reset? Some posts indicate early Revs may not be resettable.
-Must refrig be at ambient and thermocouple cold;ie not hot, in order to reset with magnet?
-Anything else I mayvbe missing?

We are at Old Stone Fort SP in TN headed to see the Ark Encounter.

Thanks
  • No you can NOT do the magnet reset trick on that early revision.
    Even Rev 'D' is maybe
REVISION 'E' is most current (although it is several years old)

You should contact Norcold..inform them you are having issues with your REV 'B' vintage Recall Box (not that it got wet and tripped)
Issues.tripped but fridge is not leaking..faulty recall box

Norcold MUST authorize replacement by a 'authorized' repair facility (dealer or mobile tech)
Mobile will cost you 'Service Fee' but New Recall Box should be FREE
(Take it into the authorized DEALER and No Charge------course it will most likely take Dealer months. Have to diagnose, then send for new box then schedule replacement, then forget to call you etc)

You can ALWAYS count on some moron to post this when somebody needs help on a Norcold refer. This type post is REALLY helpful. Doug

Hmmmm ... what is a "Beacon wash" ... and why should it affect a Norcold propane refrigerator's operation?

We have an even older (2005), but small, motorhome with only a 6.3 cf Norcold in it, so your Norcold is probably a much larger one. Should I be concerned with eventually having the same problem as you mention?
  • I don't know all the alpha characters on these resets. I do know that a guy in a local RV shop told me not to spend money on a new one. He checked and the upgrade on the firehazard issue has been done. He pulled a huge magnet off the wall at his shop and held it against the part, put the part back on and it worked fine and has been working for a few years now.
I had tried it with a magnest, but he said it needed to be a BIG magnet. Worked!

    mention?

Beacon is a tractor trailer truck wash that will wash RVs too. They are several of them on the interstates. They use pressure washers so the spray and mist got through the refrig exterior wall vents and onto the circuit board of the Norcold recall box causing it to falsely trigger.
