“However, it brings up the fact that BMS DOES add an additional "layer" to your system which can, does and will break before the batteries really wear out.”
Fair enough, but when it comes to ‘additional layers’ this kinda reminds me of a dang serious vibration needing to be chased down in my (when purchased new, but scary to drive on certain cement transitions) 16 DRW Cummins Ram…I’ve written far too much about this on another forum, so I won’t revisit here…
But these (actually, not so uncommon) multiple ‘additional layers’ needing review are in fact quite common, in my truck’s case, wheel, tires, rotors, torque converter, 4x4 transfer case, driveline balance, U joints, center carrier bearing and rear springs - all ‘additional layers’ that over a time all had to undergo competent examination before arriving at the actual root cause… My only point??…Nowadays in this techno-rich world, I have some sincere difficulty imagining a world without ‘additional layers’ of possible complications or failure areas…’Pick your poison’ AND extended warranties comes to mind,,,In the case of LFP’s, it’s not uncommon for a reputable manufacturer-vendor to provide a 10 yr warranty…This, along with a proper (cogent complementary) component selection is the ‘poison’ (actually the path) I chose and (being not so techno ‘risk adverse’…) without dreaded buyer’s remorse…In fact, I just bought a second…Quite honestly, I’m far more worried about a ‘social credit’ system - lol :)
