Nothing works?

My fifth wheel trailer sat for 4 years and batteries went dead.
Installed new batteries yesterday.
Nothing works, so I plugged into house with 15 amp power.
Everything works?
Do the batteries need to charge longer to get 12 volt lights to work?
Thanks in advance for any help with this problem.

X2, it would give you a starting point for troubleshooting the problem.
  • Maybe check for "terminal corrosion" at the converter as a next step.

How did the terminals at the battery disconnect look?

  • Just went out to trailer and yes the battery disconnect was pushed in (off) pulled it out still no lights?
  • I had new battery cable installed at Camping World along with the batteries.
Could the converter have gone bad?
  • If it works plugged in but not on battery look for a battery disconnect. Also the inline fuse normally near the battery might be blown. Make sure the battery cables are not reversed. On most RV's Black is + and white is -
