The “electrode” (which I think you are calling an “igniter”) not only ignites the burner but also detects the burner flame. It sounds like this may be the problem. It may be defective or not properly positioned in the flame. Another possibility is the flame is not burning properly.

Thermocouple and igniter are 2 different things. The igniter sparks to allow the gas to ignite. The thermocouple is a milliamp sensor that detects the flame and allows the solenoid to the gas valve to open and stay open provided there is good, continual flame. OP is getting ignition and sounds like burn too, then it's shutting down. Sounds like an LP supply problem, affected exhaust flow, blocked vent, or a bad thermocouple. That said, OP replaced a lot of parts without actually knowing the problem. I would have pulled the unit, taken it to someone and have it bench tested by a professional.

BTW, didn't mean to be crass. After reading my reply it sounded a little like that. Sorry. You are right in a sense that in most units the igniter and thermocouple (sensor) are part of the same part. Different parts but in one assembly.
