Off Brand TPMS

I have read most of the posts regarding the name brand tire pressure monitors on both the forums I belong to. I realize that most people probably buy the name brand unit over the cheaper no-name or off brands.

My questions though is directed towards the people ( if any) that have purchased the off brands. What do you think of the performance of said unit and if need be, would you purchase again.

I have been accused by DW as spending way too much time looking into purchases and taking my time to make decisions. Took me three years to decide on my toy hauler so this is just an extension of my methods. It is not so much that I am cheap, just trying to be thorough and as informed as I can be.

I want to thank every one in advance for your replies to my question.
  • Live on the edge, go buy a name brand that has many happy owners with a good reliable, contactable office for help or information. At least you will know before hand what your going to get for your money. I use TST and will use them again when it is time to upgrade.
  • Ask us again in three years, after you've done your research. Seriously, with all of the deliberation you put into the TH you're considering cheaping out on the TPMS? I love my TST and would never consider an offbrand safety item.

  • Personally I'd give it a shot. If nobody tries anything you never know if anything is better. Go for it.
  • I bought a name brand and after a couple of years the receiver quit working. I call the manufacturer and guess what? They don't make my receiver any more and my sensors do not talk to their new receiver. Now I have 8 sensors and no functioning TPMS. So much for going with a name brand. It is Hawkshead by the way. Probably over $500 invested, well down the drain.
  • We also have Hawkshead and I wish I had looked at one of the other major popular brands instead like TST or Tireminder. I do like the Hawkshead T-valves though.
  • What matters is when you need support or service. If you get the cheapest piece of equipment and you can't get help when something goes wrong, it doesn't matter how much the initial price was.

Then you can join the multitude of people that come on here and complain about the product. You notice almost no one posts about a great product with excellent customer service.

I would google the brand you're looking at. If you can't find anything, but it.
