Off Topic Medical Plea

This will undoubtedly be shuttled to another forum. But until it is, allow me to make a strong recommendation.

THE CURRENT FLU EPIDEMIC AND DEATHS

The flu vaccines didn't work.

But what DOES WORK is this

Get a PNEUMONIA SHOT

I encouraged friends to do this a year ago. It stopped my chronic inner ear infections DEAD in it's tracks after 6 years of thrice a year infections.

It seems to not only stop pneumonia dead in its tracks but also the worst part of the flu symptoms. It has worked for more than a dozen friends and acquaintances and at this writing it is working for me.

Get an inoculation ASAP. It starts working in three days or so. Your family doctor can tell you more about this. The quacks told me the inoculation is one-time for life.

Regular programming now resumes...

  • Regardless of flu or not, if you are over 60 years old, the pneumonia shot is a good thing to do.

Percentage of flu victims dead because of pneumonia? Almost every last one.

My recurring inner ear infections drove me nuts. I researched it. Finally came across a piece in the JOURNAL AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION. A pneumonia inoculation stops a majority of inner ear infections. None of my doctors had a clue. I still spring it on a new doctor. 100% of them are doubtful. I told them to look it up in JAMA.

I always side with stuff that works. I hate to see needless deaths because of medical community ignorance. FLU - PNEUMONIA - DEATH. Why is it so difficult for them to do the linkage themselves?

They operate like inferior technicians operate -- by ROTE.

I've done what little I could. The rest is up to the reader.
Please stick to electronics, a subject you know something about. It's doubtful if the 50-100 million people who died from the Spanish flu would have been saved by a pneumonia shot. Although many did die from respiratory failure, caused by the flu virus.
  • I get a flu shot every year. As I understand it, the problem is that the 'flu shot makers' have to decide very far in advance which strains to protect against with the upcoming vaccine. Not sure but I seem to remember being told that the current one protects against 3 different strains, but could be wrong.

I had never gotten a pneumonia vaccine until this year when my doctor suggested it, so I went ahead and got the shot. As stated above he also told me that 2 will be required.

Why not just get both flu and pneumonia shots ? easy peasy.

If you want to get TRULY scared read up on the flu pandemic that hit during and just after WWI. Pay attention to the numbers of people who died from the flu compared to how many died during the war. I'll take all the flu shots I can get.

Flu shot works for me, if that can be judged by not having the flu in 50 years. Apparently there's a strain going around now that's not easy to prevent.

Correct, the problem is that the current vaccine doesn't match the current flu epidemic. Mex made a very good point.

42 in California so far this year. Articles don't go into what exactly is the final cause of death.

"ACROSS INDIANA -- Due to a recent spike in flu-related deaths across Indiana, the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) is urging Hoosiers to take precautions against influenza as there have now been 50 flu-related deaths in the state since Jan. 6. This is 25 more than a recent report from the week of Dec. 30. ISDH says widespread increased flu activity has been reported across the state, especially at several long-term care facilities where elderly residents can be especially vulnerable during flu season." ...
