Naw, I got LAAAAAZY and stuck a 20 amp Shottky Diode inline. At sundown, I got up, grabbed the towels and went and took a shower. Tough life, stripping mangoes off of trees, skinnin' 'em sticking the meat in a blender, sloshing in some Ron Castillo, some ice cubes, then leaning on the Pulse button for several seconds. By then the grandkids would come swinging through the trees demanding "Abuelito queremos dulce (Grandfather we want dessert)" and that was the end of that. I fixed the invasions. Load 'em up with chocolate (caffeine) with lots of artificial colors and turn them loose on their folks. I could hear the screams all the way across the arroyo.
The issue I have with my panels is there isn't total all-the-time sun. Where there is sun, you can fry two eggs, so sure as shootin' the top of the rig, the patio and computer room is shaded. I put the panels atop the chicken coop, the batteries and inverter, plus generator inside and send 600 volt power Via a transformer to the casa. A rodent but through the 600 volt wire a couple of years ago. SNAP! SIZZLE! The Trace 4024 sure can make that 5KW transformer hum!
The CFE power is only for the A/C. I put a 100 watt metal halide lamp 50 feet outside the patio. Wonderful light. All the critters, including scorpions and gechkos go there not onto the patio.
Going to make a 10 red LED porch light and test the theory that bugs are blind to red light. Of course that means taking the chance I'll have drunken campesinos knocking on my door all night.
