I'm probably being foolish, but we do a lot of hot weather and high altitude towing, often in dusty and rocky terrain. So I use non-synthetic oil in my 2013 Tacoma and change it every 3000 miles. .........
When your Tacoma is running, the oil is at the same temperature regardless of the weather. Dust might clog your air cleaner but it should not make it into the oil. Rocks in the terrain are not going to affect your oil either. That leaves high altitude towing which might stress your engine but unless you seriously overheat the engine that should not wear out the oil.
I think changing the oil makes you feel good and feel like you are doing something worthwhile for your Tacoma. You should probably consider changing it even more often.
