Holy cow!!! I'm living déjà vu!!!! This happened to my brother in law too!!!! He brought his RV to my place and I ended up mig welding a bolt on top of the bolt he made "round" (just like you did).
I welded a 1/2" nut to his "nub" then I used a 3/4" socket driver set and it came out. He bought a new drain plug and had it present for the "operation."
Find a good welder and have him tack on a nut, then go from there. It works. Over the years, I've done this stuff before for all sorts of broken bolt and nuts on engines.
Google "how to remove a broken nut/bolt with a welder." You'll see that it's a common technique and one of the best, with a skilled welder.
