Older Onan generator

My 1995 Lazy Daze motorhome has the original Onan generator in it.

I tested an outlet in the RV with some lights on.
Hz - 64-65.5 Hz
Volts - 130-133 VAC

Volts at automatic choke lead on carburetor - 30.3 VAC.

I think this is way off.
Is this a generator control board problem?
  • Load it with heavy load for a while before changing anything. If it has not been run for a while use an electric heater, give the brushes and armature time to clean up.
  • Unit needs to get RPM adjusted. Lowering the RPM so genset output is around 61-62 HZ.
  • Probably just needs to be adjusted. Get a copy of the Onan manual which will have a step-by-step procedure. The parts man at my local Cummins dealer emailed me a copy. By the way welcome to the forum!
