Yes, there could be dangerous particles in the air that might potentially become more dangerous if burned on the catalytic pad. Or when burned in your kitchen stove flame. Or you inhale them before they get burned.
After my trailer was sitting closed for two years in So Cal dealer's lot, and then few years more in Mexico (including summers), I consider my duty of pre-heating it fulfilled.
There is almost no carpet. I don't think RV should have much carpet, - this is not healthy.
If there is any dangerous dust that still keeps crumbling out of cabinet walls (trailer walls and ceiling are plywood, not particle board), - not much can be done about it.
To those who don't have cat heaters and still worry about it - the manual suggests keeping it covered from dust when not in use. This is important because catalytic pad could get contaminated with dust and stop working, and it is not cheap. Will help with hazards of burning dangerous dust as well, - however serious those hazards are.
