On board propane filling question

We have a gas station near us that can do it, but no one is familiar with the process and they don't seem to know what to do. Is there something to loosen to let out excess? There's a tag on a nut looking thing that says to stop filling when we see liquid. One guy thought we were supposed to loosen that nut. Another guy didn't.

So far we watch the tank gauge and have them turn it off when it gets to full.

Whatever you do, do NOT return to this station. You need to find someone who DOES know what they are doing. Do not try to train the folks at this gas station.
There are many other sources but, as mentioned above, a propane dealer would be your best option.
