Onan 5500 Fuel Filter removal

Question

I have a 2004 Onan 5500 with low hours. Always runs great. Started last night and I have a drip at the fuel filter at carb. I understand this filter can be eliminated. Is there a kit with fittings to change out? Anyone have the part number? Thanks, Tim

You can use the commercial replacement adapter like this one or just go to your local auto parts store and look for a fitting that will work. Good idea to replace the fuel line from the pump to the carb at the same time.

I used the adapter shown above. Note that when Onan went to just one filter and added the adapter they went to a new filer. Fuel filter new style = #149-2341-01

The original filters(China) had a dangerous leak problem. Replace it with new style.
