Cool, so what oils would you suggest for my parameters, i.e. much of the time in the 90s to lower 100s and occasionally near freezing and rarely below?
Given the "rarely below," I feel like I'm a candidate for straight 30 or maybe a 10W-30 synthetic.
I'd go with Valvoline VR-1 Racing 10w-40 (Conventional oil) silver bottle. Be sure and read the label carefully as there is a non detergent one that you don't want to use. Napa is a good source for this oil.
