Onan carb fix
I have a 5500 onan in my new fuzion and it's always had a lean pop out the exhaust and would surge when not under a load. I am a diesel tech and refused to buy into the fact these carbs can't be clean...

I have the Onan 4000 and it seemed like it always was trying to clog up every time I infrequently used it. Since I started using Stable and Chevron injector cleaner I don't have any more problems but my thought was always, why. I'm a carpenter by trade but always thought the carb jets were way too small because of the gestapo requirements. Consider carbureted cars. ( You youngen's can Google it). I would set the carb so lean and retard the spark it would hardly run to get it through AZ. emissions then as soon as I got back on the street I'd pop the hood and set it and the timing to where it was. I've always kept my vehicles tuned to where the exhaust never burned black. If it did I knew I needed plugs, timing, etc. Now, with the gestapo regulating EVERTHING , the quality of gasoline available, it's impossible. I cannot believe a motor that burns a black exhaust, as is OK with the government is more efficient and non-polluting than one that has a grey pipe...... I better quit here, I'll get political....... and get zapped... :D
