Onan MicroLite 2800

Has anybody been able to change the fuel filter on an Onan 2800? There isn’t enough room or slack in the fuel line to get off the bottom clamp. Saw a video on utube where one guy was able to somehow get it off but wasn’t able to put the new one on. There doesn’t seem to be any bottom access either. Thanks.
  • I didn't know the 2800 models even had a fuel filter. My circa 2002 one didn't, that I know of. I do know that depending on how they're mounted, you might have to drop the gen out of the motorhome, to get at it, unless there's an access hole above them somewhere in the motorhome. My Roadtrek was set up like that. Had to have it dropped when the start/run solenoid wiring needed to be replaced. A long time ago.
  • Yes, there's a fuel filter. I had a 2800 on my 03 Roadtrek Popular. IIRC, it was pretty obvious when you removed the front access door. Can't recall exactly how I did it, but compared to other projects I don't recall it being horrendous. Mine I believe had the usual black spring steel type hose clamps that you release by squeezing with pliers. ST
  • Pulled the manual and it does show a fuel filter. Guess I never changed it, then. Funny, it ran like a top whenever I needed it, in spite of not changing the fuel filter in 8 years.
