Onboard Fresh Water System

Montana 2014 High Country. Traveling and last night only had electric hook-up. Water tank at least 1/2 full and pump runs but only spits air and drops of water from faucets. Night before last tank water level had been very low.. Back home now and plan to try to fix it tomorrow. Any suggestions on bleeding air from lines and/or check-valves or other things to check.

    This^^^
  • If you have a city water fill valve and it was left in the fill position you will get the symptom you described.
  • I've had stuck valves in the water pump itself on several RVs. Dismantling them I'd find the valve stuck...touching it cured the problem, speck of whatever it was sticking the valve was far to small to see as it fell out. Apparently tiny enough to get past the screen. The valves have such miniscule clearance.
  • First fill the tank completely so you can be sure it is getting water.
If still not working, find the pump. Most of them have a screen/filter on the inlet. Running the tank low may have allowed it to suck some debri out of it and block the screen. The ones I have seen can be cleaned out.
Other that that, it may be an air leak somewhere in the suction line. Check all fittings etc. This can be hard to fine, as it may not leak any water... BTDT

  • leave one faucet open and run pump. may have lost prime if tank level was too low.
  • Maybe a loose hose clamp on the water pump intake line? If your rig was winterized by feeding antifreeze directly into the water pump, that clamp or connection may not have been fully tightened on completion.

I'd start by simply throwing the in valve to ' city water' and filling the water lines that way.
