Great info...thanks guys.
I'm looking for 30A inverters but I haven't found any with a 30A outlet...they all have 2-4 standard 110V outlets. I have an adapter to let me put the 30A plug into one of those, but will each outlet on the inverter carry a 30A load by itself (with only one outlet in use)?
I guess what I'm asking is - What's the correct way to wire a 30A inverter to a female outlet in the shore power box?
Any problem with putting the inverter inside the short power compartment? Overheating?
It seems like it would be worth getting an inverter with a remote monitoring capability that I could mount inside the cabin. Comments here?
Pianotuna - My current "bank" is one cheap lead-acid 12v battery, so I might just reclaim that compartment as storage. Might be a good place to put the inverter, actually.
Increasing the size of the charging wire from the alternator would increase the voltage put into the battery, correct? That sounds like a good idea. I think the current wire should run right through the new area so it'll be a little extra work, but sounds like it's worth it.
There's a master battery kill switch inside the coach, so in theory that would tell me the power is actually off. I haven't measured to see if there are any phantom loads on it with the switch off, though. The electric steps still operate with the switch off, and I think they're run off the coach battery. Would you recommend an additional switch?
