Westend - I'm not married to those heaters. They'll be good for when we're on shore power. Otherwise, I'll depend on the furnace and mattress heaters.
SMK - thanks for that info on the inverters...explains a few things. Looking at the schematics this morning, and comparing them with pics I took earlier, I'm seeing a few things that might make this easier. Manufacturers sure don't try to make this easy!
I currently have a Xantrex XM1000 Pro inverter. It's mounted under the bed in the rear, and the switch is in the living area by the door.
- According to the website, the XM1000 has two outlets on it.
- According to the schematic, it looks like only one is in use.
I'll confirm when I get back to the RV, but if that's the case, for a short-term solution I'll just run a 120V extension cord from the inverter to the shore power box and use what's already wired. That will at least give me some experience in running things to see how much I want/need to upgrade right away.
There's a transfer switch next to the inverter.
I'm curious why they put the battery near the middle of the rig, with a DC cable running all the way to the rear for the inverter, then an AC wire running all the way to the front of the rig for the ONLY inverted outlet...which is disabled when the rig is cranked.
Gotcha' on the heaters. I shouldn't go off all "preachy" on you, there are a lot of different ways to get to good solutions. Sorry about that.
Yeah, the mfg's are long on ease of assembly and short on practicality. Any chance you can relocate some of the inverter/battery pieces?
