The only thing I may add of any use is that the School Of Hard Knocks taught me Irwin brand Vice Grips are still leaps and bounds ahead of the competition when it comes to biting into the material it is retaining. Off brand pliers do not have the heat treating of the serrations on the jaw tips.
Lastly, posts like yours took me right beside you. Besides being hysterically funny, it is supremely informative -Thank you.
