I don't see any downside to grounding the receptacle to the frame. Just make sure you have the 4ga ground wire from the Suresine grounding lug to the trailer ground. 4ga seems excessive to me as 6ga is normally all that is required, but it never hurts to follow the manufacturers recommendation.
I am more interested in the other issue of what can go wrong if I omit the grounds or don't ground directly to the frame.
I have used portable inverters for more than 4 years without any grounding. I have plugged the trailer cord into inverters, with the converter off, more times than I can remember.
Have I been lucky, or is the grounding lawyer talk to protect them?
I may go ahead with the grounding.
DC:
The manual says to use larger wire for the DC ground. I am using spare 2.5ft of 4GA one-way to the battery.
Do I really need more GA for the ground? Can I tap 18" of spare 10GA into the common neg bus bar as that is also tied to the frame? Would that be worse than no direct and separate frame ground at all?
AC:
Can I tap onto the bare ground wire coming out of the back of the converter. Would that be worse than no ground at all?
I don't see how tying grounds to the frame does anything when the frame is not grounded while dry camping.
