Optima Battery

I am thinking about buying a blue top marine deep cycle for a extra battery for the Truck Camper and also use it in the boat when I am not camping. Anyone have good luck with this battery?
  • I have been reading reviews about sears agm deep cycle battery's and they are not really impressive. I do appreciate all the help and advice.
  • I have one starting Optima and two deep cycle optima batteries in my Bass boat, for the last 4 years.
No problems, they are lighter in weight, no water to add, seem to hold the charge longer.
  • I have had three and they all went bad, two were covered under warranted. Another thing to look at they only have 55amphrs. For about the same price you can get an AGM with more amphrs.
  • We've had a two of them in our trailer that have been trouble free for 11 years, if they fail they will be replaced with the same thing.

  • Old Days, when battery shopping don't forget to comparison that battery you are looking in Optima to any brand name in a AGM style battery. They get a lot of money for that name brand just because they did a great job selling back in the day.

    Good luck,
    Dan
  • Nothing first hand but I was at the battery store yesterday. They said they used to be good until they started making them in Mexico.

FWIW I walked out with a Trojan 31 AGM. My old Trojan 31 acid is going in the boat!!
