OTR Mobile

A little while back, I got a referral here to try out OTR Mobile. It is an ATT&T-wireless-based unlimited wifi service. At $60 per month it is a pretty good deal, and compared to satellite service (my only previous option) a dream come true.

I use the OTR "on the road" as the acronym suggests and at home. We boondock where the signal is weak even through a WeBoost, and the signal at home is weak as well.

My "tip" is this. In the set up screen, you can select 4GLTE or 4G. The stability and performance overall of the OTR router is far superior set at 4G. While the bandwidth is a little lower, the ping and performance while using Citrix (my GF's requirement) is much more stable.
  • thank you for the tip.

Do you run 4GLTE when in a strong signal area and convert to 4G when it gets weak?

Good question. I have not had it "On the road" yet. My adjustment from LTE to 4G has just been for home use. The result was dramatic.
