Nope. The battery connection comes first to power up the controller. Then you connect the array after that.
Ought to be a fuse on the wire from the positive controller terminal that goes to the battery positive, somewhere close to the battery. Check that fuse. If blown, have several spare fuses while finding out want blew the first one.
