I just went through something similar. I just ordered a set of 6.5 speakers. When they got here I went to install them and they were too big. I stored the unit until spring and went to install them two weeks ago. I was planning to make the hole a little bigger when I discovered not only where the holes smaller but the new speaker was too deep. I ordered 6" shallow speakers and they fit perfectly. I didn't want to make the inside any deeper as it is sealed well.
Did you have to cut a bigger hole in the fiberglass? What speakers did you buy?
