Oven cleaner in 5th wheel

I need to clean the oven in my 5th wheel. It has been in storage for over two years so we need to spend a lot of time getting it back in shape.

While inspecting all the systems I discovered that there was a small mouse nest in the corner of my oven. I did not find any droppings etc just this little wad of cotton like material.

I removed everything and wiped it out with a disinfectant cleaner but my wife thinks the oven should be cleaned with an oven cleaner. It is not really that bad but there is some areas that probably could be cleaned.

My question is can you use a standard spray oven cleaner in these RV ovens? Is there a better way or solution?

Thanks in advance!

Dave

  • If you cannot see or detect any material residue using lye or caustic soda is a bit extreme even for the squeamish. Use gloves and a half-pint of Clorox bleach in a gallon of water and it will clean and disinfect any known organism from single cell to virus. It may even be more effective than using a high pH material.

But the human thinking process can render wisdom inert. When I use "EZ Off" I evacuate after opening every door, vent and window in the rig. A dwelling has infinitely more cubic feet than an RV.
  • Can't think of any reason why not....just make sure you have plenty of ventilation.
