Thanks, but I'm beginning to wonder if the thermocouple is the culprit. The pilot light stays on just fine as long as you want it to. Wouldn't the thermocouple be working OK if the the pilot stays on?
You are correct, a bad thermocouple will keep the pilot from lighting at all. Is the pilot flame close enough to the thermocouple? To me it sounds like low gas pressure, or possibly a problem with the pilot orifice. Is the tank full, or at least not near empty?
Is the pilot flame strong when nothing else is running? How about with all the cooktop burners (but not the oven) on? I would suspect the regulator.
