Tech told me the hard part is getting the right manifold. Suburban uses several different manifolds on the same model oven.
I agree; my understanding is if the thermocouple is bad, the pilot will not light at all or stay lit. The pilot lights just fine and stays on forever. The problem comes up when you light the burner.
I've seen reference to the thing behind the oven control knob as being the problem too as you mentioned.
