The PD converters (91 or 92 series) do not start off in bulk mode all the time, just forget that idea ! So unless you have the manual control, you will not only not know what mode it is in, you also cannot change it,.....unless of course you have an abundant supply of volt meters all over the place, (like I do) then you will at least know what mode it is in.

The 45 amper should take approx 5 hours to do a 50-90 on four batts, where two hours is at 45 ( a PD will taper in here, where it should stay constant at 45--can't be helped-- so add some time) and three hours of tapering to end up at 90% SOC. If you recharge beyond 90% you just add many more hours for that last little bit. If you don't do that with the boost voltage on using the CW, then add even more hours.

That is a long time for a generator recharge. I use a 100 amp smart charger (not a PD) on four 6s and it takes 2 hours (instead of 5 with 45a) to do that 50-90. But you need a bigger generator to run that 100 amper.

"Some solar" would help here for sure. If you had even 120w for under $200, you could get by with much less generator time and not need to get more of a charger or a bigger gen to have that reduced gen time.

Missed the 10000 watt. yes the 45 is max for a 1000 watt inverter generator.

Re-reading this.. IF you are not running the batteries down much. the pendant and boost mode might help to bring 'em up faster. But frankly.. I do not think it will make much difference. In Absorption mode.. the 45 will do the job nicely with 4 GC-2's

Our little Yamaha 1,000 watt generator would not like a larger converter if the batteries were very low.

The only improvement you can make is to go to a 92## bigger than 45.. With your batteries charge rates as high as 100-140 amps are not out of line.. Largest they make is (I THINK) and 80.

I will have slightly more battery this time next week.. I have a 9180 with optional wizard, plus a 2nd 100 amp source if I really need it.

14.4 "boost" is like calling 98.601 degrees a "fever".

14.8 at 25c is appropriate and will help to fill that last 20% like magic.

Give me a charger rated for 40% of the total amp hour rating of the bank, and regulated to 14.8 volts, plus a spring-wound 4 hour max timer
