Make that plural and amp draws become less critical.
Best thing for the water pump is an expansion tank. I bought a 2-gal rank rated for potable water online and it really cuts down on the pump cycling. The real killer is the furnace, even with 2-6V's it puts a hurting on the a/h if it has to run much at night.
