- BFL13Explorer IIMex, if your laptop has HDMI you can use the television with HDMI as a monitor.
- Snowman9000ExplorerWe had a Vizio 22" which used 21 watts. It went with the previous MH.
So we bought a Samsung 22" which has a 12v brick. I made a cable to power it direct from 12v outlet. It is very low draw also, but I can't find my notes to give an exact number.
This TV.
BTW the Vizio did not work well if viewed from below. We had to tilt it to line up with our eyes. I can't recall the Samsung being as bad, but I think it has the same problem to an extent. - BurbManExplorer II

...bigger amp draws on my battery....
Make that plural and amp draws become less critical.
Best thing for the water pump is an expansion tank. I bought a 2-gal rank rated for potable water online and it really cuts down on the pump cycling. The real killer is the furnace, even with 2-6V's it puts a hurting on the a/h if it has to run much at night. - MrWizardModeratorMexi
On the pc high deff starts at 1388*768
On tv high deff starts at 1280*720 then goes to 1960*1080
Monitors can be bought for less dollars than tv's, because the have no tuner , fewer inputs, no remote , no ambient light sensor, etc..
Get a TV listed as 1080i with VGA and HDMI inputs and have the best of both worlds
That will be the most pixels and the sharpest picture, unless you want to move up to the new 4k tv's, which at the moment is costly and AFAIK nobody is producing any media in that format - SCVJeffExplorer

Do you own a Kill-o-watt? If so, take it with you to Costco.. :)
Thanks Mena, for opening up our eyes about energy conserving LCD TV's. That's one of my bigger amp draws on my battery... Now, how about low amp consumption water pumps and air fans??? ;-) We are getting more efficient, bit by bit.
I can bring my Amp Clamp over and crawl around with u if you don't have one.
LED is cool because there is almost zero inrush on them - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerI don't think this low-end laptop has HDMI. It just has a monitor connection port, a gizmo receptacle thingee for plugging into a wired modem and three USB 2 ports.
I haven't got a clue what I should get. Some of the monitors, even small ones seem to be power gluttons.
I sure don't want to invest money into a 23" monitor only to get blurry and grainy pictures. Websites have been no help they all roar and fume about the very best which is way above my needs. I need efficiency, low amp draw. Am I asking too much? - NinerBikesExplorerokay I'm $1.61 more broke with a Polish dog and a refill on the soft drink and about $191 poorer after picking up a Samsung 24 inch, it looks like the amps on it is very low and it also does have a 14 volt brick, which is another consideration in the savings I'll get when I won't have to power up my 150 watt inverter. I can then plug in directly to 12 volt cig lighter type power outlet. Moar Amps savings, if it works with 12. Think it will.

- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerI'm on AGM 31 power right now, with a Fantastic Fan blowing. I wonder, Niner, what the low-volts dropout voltage is on that TV. Could it handle operating, say, at 12.3 volts?

Just my TV was discontinued.
I thought you said it was discontinued...I guess you meant your particular model, I took that to mean the models with the sensors...OK will look again, thanks.
Vizio E-series
Look at the tech specs for the power draw.NinerBikes wrote:
You're welcome! For the movie watchers, there are low draw Bluray players too. I found a Sony that had an advertised draw of 25W. I don't remember the model but it was physically small compared to most players.
