I have drained and refilled so many THM 400 transmissions it isn't funny.
I drill a hole in the bottom of the torque converter to fit a 1/4" plug. The plug has a square INset not a square tower sticking up. It takes overnight to fully drain the converter. You need a drill correct for the 1/4" tap. Use teflon tape to seal the plug tight.
Be prepared for about 11 quarts of fluid. When it comes time to do it again you are all ready. Draining four out of 11 quarts is like taking a shower without water --- next to useless.
Don't get any chips in the transmission oil pan. Let your drain pan take it all.
I prefer genuine GM filters over Fraud I mean Fram.
