Pancake Compressor

For $40, I don't think you have much to lose if you buy it and try it out. If you don't like it...return it.

I carry one of those portable 12v powered compressors which works great for both tug and tow. Best part is that one doesn't have to look for an external power source!

You don't say how big your rig is, but the one at this link will do pretty goodsized tires. They do come in a wide range of other sizes/prices.

Either that brand or recommendations for others, just that I don't want to spend $100. I tow a rig that is 24' with tires at 50lbs. Not sure if anyone purchased one from HF and has had bad experience...

I have two of the $39.95 (on sale) HF pancake compressors. One in the 5er, one at some land I own for my tractor and implement trailer tires. Both work great.

Walmart carries a nice little 3 gallon "hot dog" type compressor made by Campbell Hausfeld. It's only $75.00, and is a plug in type, not a 12 volt. I work at Lowe's, and sell Campbell Hausfeld, but for some reason can't get this particular model. I have seen them in Walmart, and it's a nice little unit, and I'll probably pick one up for my Lexi. It's also a bit more compact than the round pancake your looking at.
I do carry a 12 volt compressor in each of my vehicles for emergencie's, and for a car tire their OK. Tried one on my Class C tire and it pooped out, not getting anywhere near 75-80 psi. I know there are quality 12 volt compressor's out there, but if you have a generator and can run a regular compressor, why not?

Just for the heck of it I checked Amazon and they have it for $69.00. no tax, and free shipping.

The inflator that Francesca linked to looks like it would do the job. I found it at WalMart for $70.

I have one of the HF compressors you mentioned and it works Ok, for 50 PSI tires you should be fine. I use mine for small nail guns in my workshop. :)
