Testing all day??? Why? Who says all of the atmosphere conditions are the same day to day even if they look the same. And battery SOC, loads, etc?
Much better IMHO to run a short test, switch the panels from serial to parallel, another short test and switch back. If the first and third tests are consistent then the serial/parallel comparison should be reasonably valid. Then we can speculate on the differences like his panels, wire gauge, etc but we would have some real data.
Look at my graph above where the data was supplied by the MPPT60. Jim can produce those graphs with many more available variables all day long if he want's to.
BTW I was blown away by the MPPT60 efficiency with my 92V array. I need to do some additional validation which is why I haven't published the results. No doubt for me that the MPPT60 is a quality controller. Not perfect but very good IMHO.
