Your goals are different from those of BFL. You want to rely on your solar as much as possible. Logs, adjustable Abs time, remote temp compensation are some of the features that make this controller better than Eco. 20A controller is not an option with 3*250W panels anyway.
Yes, setting up TS units is not very user-friendly. This isn't something that necessarily comes with bigger and costlier models, it's just how they made it. Setting up my Rouge is simple as long as I know what I want - this latter part can be a challenge though.
You won't have to change settings very often - after initial few weeks or months of observations you'll leave it alone.
