How would one boost the voltage on such a high current unit? Would it not be the same as when I was considering bucking the voltage on my 60a Turnigy 1080w?
Some (not all) switching supplies have a voltage adjustment pot ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD. The voltage adjust pot however may not be marked at all.
Some switching power supplies simply do not have any adjustment pot. In this case it means you would need to be able to do some work at figuring out how the voltage regulation is setup and how to make the correct changes (resistor(s)) without turning it into a smoldering doorstop.
Kind of the luck of the draw in this case, no way to be sure until it is in your hands and you crack open the case to see if there is majic to be had.
I have in the past had a few switchers in which there was a adjustment pot and I was able to swing them a couple of volts in the direction I needed..
I had a real nice 12V at 80A that I picked up at a Hamfest (electronics flee market for Ham operators) for $10 used.. It worked but the voltage adjustment only would swing .5V up and .5V down from 12.00V.
The plan was to use it for my converter but 12.5V wasn't going to cut it so I sold it at the next Hamfest for $20 :B which paid my way in to the Hamfest..
