This is a big issue with cruising sailboats that must have the solenoid. For those who do not understand this issue, when energized the solenoid gets so warm it is impossible to grasp it tightly without yelling.
Between stove, hot water heater, refrigerator, and space heating how is a person supposed to manage?
Sailboats are minus, refrigerator and space heating duty (they use diesel). So the issue is solely to energize and de-energize with a touch button latching relay.
With an RV that has no bilge to fill with LPG gas and explode the necessity of the solenoid becomes unclear. Think about it...
