As antimonial flooded batteries age, antimony migration to the negative plates can increase watering frequency by a factor of ten. Too high of float voltage can drastically increase antimony migration. Once electrolyte gravity maxes out, that's it. Reduce voltage. Most car jar RV batteries require a 100 or so milliamps to float at 20c to maintain correct float.
5% antimony batteries need more frequent watering right off the starting blocks. 7% antimony batteries used on WW2 submarines really used up water, 500-700 gallon stainless steel tanks mounted next to the maneuvering room with hoses leading down to the forward and aft battery.
