I wouldn't waste much time getting an automated measurement system. It's so much quicker taking manual data. You could place all the meters together in one place and record with a movie camera. That method doesn't take up much of your precious time.
I felt like building the micro to RS-232 adapter circuit for my Tri-Metric that Bogart Engineering refers to in the literature. I had all the components sitting downstairs (well, I had to substitute the MAX 232 with another member of the MAX family). Yesterday I put it together, last night I tested it (surprise, it worked first time out) and this morning I hooked it up with a 20 hour discharge rate to my battery bank. I'm currently streaming the discharge data into my laptop while I'm at work. Tonight I'll stop, then restart the capture and crank up the PD9280 to capture the charge data.
I probably won't have much time to get into the guts of the PD if it's fading off the charge current, but this will give me a baseline for testing.
