Drycamper - Interesting findings and deeper into power supply design than I've ever gone. I'll throw out the one data point that when I was using the 9160A to heat a bucket of water, in one setup it supplied a constant 61 amps at 14.34 volts, which is its max voltage when loaded heavily. I can't do any repeats now because it's installed in the rig and the previous data gathering was done on the workbench. If you tinker with the gain you'll find out soon enough if that's a real issue or not. There won't be any condemnation from my direction if you smoke something. I often break things when tinkering, and if it's a SMD board, it happens a lot easier. I just chalk it up to the price of education. I've also had mixed results with op amps. Sometimes they do what I want, and other times I just can't get the analog part to work right. Digital is a lot more predictable, for me anyway.
