I guess not! You were operating in the 80-99% SOC range where gen time is longest for replacing used AH. this is normally solar people's country.
When I cranked up the gen, the PD would hit 80+ amps for an hour or so, then decay along the decay curve in the graphs I previously posted. I'd let it run until I was down to about 5A per battery - about 20A total, then shut it off.
The Vector tapers once battery voltage reaches 14v, so it will taper first when combined with a higher voltage charger, but while it is still running it should add some amps to what your mod-9280 is making.
If you run the Vector with that PD at 14.4, I think you will see the PD drop out first. BTW if the Vector won't even run with the PD already on, the drill is to turn off the converter, get the Vector running, and then turn on the converter and they will both be running (unless you pop the generator's circuit breaker :) )
Thanks for the comments. I'll try starting the Vectra first. I can't be sure, but the problem seemed to be that I was already beyond the region where the 14.4V Vectra wanted to go with the 14.8V PD modification.
It's hard to be certain what I was seeing with the 14.4 vs. 14.8 mod. I'd clearly get a big charging current increase if I charged to 14.4, then switched in the mod to 14.8V boost limit. Some of that current could go to producing gas, but looking at the battery didn't clearly show excess gas production. I tried to get a handle on it by checking SG, but I was more interested in vacation/camping than doing careful testing protocols :)
