Ya at eeh Good Afternoon ...we have a minor problem with the kitchen sink in our 7 year old Cougar, it has developed a small 3/4" crack in the bottom right next to the colander, but not down around to the threads. The bottom of the sink is so thin (really really thin) it flexes. Cheapo products. Question ... Would JB Waterweld putty work on sealing it. I can push up from underneath and it opens the crack slightly so that putty could get in the crack, then also seal it from underneath. Also would I need to drill a small hole in the end to stop the crack. It leaks ever so lightly that you can feel moisture on your finger if you hold there for a minute or so. DW is not to keen on having to buy a new sink. Any and all suggestion appreciated. Thanks Milo

It looks like another fine use for Eternabond tape from underneath.

Take some measurements and go to the local big box store and buy a new sink. Simple exchange and you will be much happier. It is possible you might have to do a bit of cutting, but much better fix.

A plastic sink can be as low as $20 at a RV store. I'd see about a replacement of something the same, or at least similar. One might even find a metal sink with the same dimensions.

Here is another option...watch the video all the way..looks like this stuff could be really handy for a lot of RV applications. Says it's perfect for repairing sinks, hot tubs, etc.(disclaimer: never used it.)LINK

JB weld has PlasticWeld made for plastics...used it on my cars power steering reservoir...worked good

UPDATE AGAIN!!!!

The glue & Eternabond sealed the crack right up.. Used the sink to wash dishes after 4 meals and not one drop of water leaked thru. The only down side is, the crack is still visible. But hey no leak. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Update ... Got the crack repaired (maybe). Took some scrap booking glue DW uses in her scrap booking. That stuff glues anything together. Pushed up from underneath & opened it up and put a very small bead in the crack and let it dry good. Then took a 1 x 3 inch strip of Eternabond Microsealant Waterproof Tape (bought a small strip from Walmart) and sealed the bottom of the sink. Put water in the sink and let it set for several hours ...no leak. Now next week we have a trip with the TT so we'll see if it will hold. Thanks for all your thoughts on repairing it.

I used a 2 part epoxy called Rapid Repair Putty sold @ most rv dealers to repair my fresh water tank. Was cured & ready to go in just a couple of hrs depending on temps. Worked like a charm with the wgt of 122 gal of water. Leak was on the bottom of the tank where the dump valve is located. Very good product. It works on pvc, cpvc, abs, plastic & poly tanks and parts.

It doesn't have to be very good tape. Any will do, even a packing tape. The question is how long it will last, especially with hot water.

Eternabond would be the tape, yes, but it's not cheap if you need it for this only repair. Roll of Eterna costs $30, new acrylic sink $50, new stainless sink from $70.

West I bet eternabond as suggested above would. That's what they made it to do.

A new sink is the right answer but very good tape should help until you find the right sink to swap for.

None of the adhesives will be strong enough nor flex enough to seal the crack in the sink permanently. The sink will flex with use and will continue to leak. Plastic is one of the harder things to repair with adhesive because of the wide variety of polymers used and matching the adhesive to them.

Since you'll need to disconnect the sink strainer and the down pipe, replacement is an easier and more permanent solution. Good luck with your sink.

I think your plan is excellent. JB Weld will work for sure and I was going to mention (but you already knew it) to drill a small hole at the ends of the crack. I say go for it, I'd do the same thing.

BTW, you could also use some Bondo if you had some laying around. A bit more flexible than JB.

I bring up the Bondo only because I had a 4 x 4 wood post that I discovered was damaged by termites on one side, about 1/2" deep. This post supported a patio cover. I was going to jack up the patio and replace the post when a buddy said, "clean out all the termites and rotted wood, fill it with Bondo, smooth, and re-stain". I did just that about 10 years ago and the post is still as solid as the day it was new. Moral of the story; termite hate Bondo.

Doesn't relate exactly to your situation, but you get he idea.

This is (I think) acrylic plastic. Can be glued together with solvent like Aceton, but you have to make a good contact between two surfaces of the crack. Crazy Glue should work too.

But... Unless this is really old trailer that you don't want to spend money on, or maybe don't have money to spend - get a new sink. Yes, they come in stainless too, though cost a bit more.

Meanwhile almost any adhesive or even good duct tape on the bottom will fix it for now. Very little water pressure on it unless you fill the sink with standing water.
