My Xantrex 1000 (2000 surge/ 900 continuous) will not run my 900w Microwave. I would recommend 2000-2500 watt inverter with heavy wires from the batteries for planned MW operation.
I put my converter on it's own breaker, and as long as I shut it off, fridge and HW on propane etc, I can plug the my house cord into the inverter as long as I am judicious about power usage. I ran an extension cord up to my bedroom which is powered from the inverter directly. My normal operation is to use the inverter to power that cord even when I have hookups. So, it acts like a UPS for my CPAP machine. I got tired of power issues in the middle of the night waking me up.
