All of the above really nice places to live. MN has no sales tax on alternative energy and no property tax on whatever you do with it to improve your property. They get their share in other ways (State income tax, 7.5% sales tax, County property tax). If they would quit financing new sports stadiums (almost there), building out new schools and paying educators huge sums, we could eliminate one class of tax. Shipping works well here--Fedex, UPS, and USPS place my shipments at the back door. Digikey delivers within two days, usually. One of their distro centers is 250 mi. North of me.
Don't even get me started on healthcare. It is badly broken and there seems no timeline to repair it. Last Fall, I was in the Hospital for a week. Great place and superb care (that's nice to have when your life is in the balance). After the procedure, I had what I refer to as "drive-by Drs.". These folks would pop into my room with little scope of what was going on and leave within a minute or two. I can guarantee that everyone submitted a bill. The last few I asked to leave and not submit a bill as neither me or my insurance company was going to pay.
